So how do you do it?
Access all areas (especially at the side)
Generally speaking, if you have 2.4 to 3 metres around the side of your pool, you have enough room for a fibreglass pool and standard excavation equipment. However, newer homes tend to be closer to the property boundaries, meaning full-width car access down one side is far from the norm.
For a side access narrower than 2.4 metres, specialist small excavators and bobcat equipment will be required. Better access to your pool will make the installation quicker because work can be completed using standard larger equipment.
There is hope if you have a slope
A level surface site will obviously make for an easier installation. However, there are very few perfectly flat yards! Sloping blocks make it challenging to create a level base.
The shell of a fibreglass pool relies on the ground for support. Soil may have to be raised to create a flat surface in uneven places.
But with a steep slope, a retaining wall may be more suitable. It will keep the earth in place by providing structural support to prevent any soil movement. It’s effectively a barrier to separate the pool area from higher sloping areas.
Wherever the pool goes, there needs to be plenty of drainage around the structure.
Lift off…with a crane!
On rare occasions, it may be better to crane your pool into place. We can crane a fibreglass shell over two-story houses. An assessment is made of your block, driveway surface material and the position of the house to establish the best crane to take the fibreglass structure over your property to position it into your yard.
