Full outdoor setups of lap, plunge and family-sized pools are on show at Barrier Reef Pools’ new display centre in Mandurah, allowing customers to see their new pool in a complete outdoor setting. “Other pool display centres have only pools on display; this display centre is about the pool and the area around the pool,” Barrier Reef Pools director Brad Hilbert said. “We find more clients who don’t just want a pool, they want an outdoor area that incorporates a pool into it, and the whole area must be practical and look good – this is exactly what this new display centre offers.” The southern display centre took 12 months to construct and opened at the end of last year. It has 10 pools in situ, spread over 1200sqm. It is the third display centre for the company, in addition to their O’Connor and Joondalup centres. Mr Hilbert said it was the biggest swimming pool display centre south of the city, showcasing everything from spas with concrete day beds to 12m lap pools.

Every pool area has its own theme, and divisional walls and screens have been used to makes it easier for clients to see how it might look in their backyard,” he said. “We also have different surrounds on display – rebated bluestone paving, honed concrete, limestone paving, timber decking, artificial grass and standard poured limestone.” Landscaping has been themed in formal, tropical, screening and low-lying styles as nine internal shimmer colours show the company’s full range of pool finishes from white beach-inspired colourings to deep black interiors. Water features, ranging from blade installations and tiled water walls to sun beds and deck jets, were designed to inspire.

The display centre offers clients a chance to see how different pool styles, colour themes and landscaping ideas all come together,” Mr Hilbert said. “It makes it much easier for clients to make a decision on something they have already seen and are happy with; it can be very hard to visualise how things will look in a backyard and this new display centre will make picturing all the elements much easier.” Mr Hilbert said the company has plans for two more display centres – the fourth at their new manufacturing premises in Forrestdale and the fifth is planned to open in Joondalup later this year.

Barrier Reef pools installed a 12m lap pool at our house, we were really happy with the finished product and service we received. The installer was great and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them, out pool looks great and the kids love it.

We shopped around at different pool companies and found that only Barrier Reef were upfront and honest about their costs. We really liked the fixed pricing on offer and they were very upfront about additional costs we may encounter, such as if they hit limestone on the dig. Everything was well organised, Tony came to do a survey at our house and was extremely friendly and helpful to us, responding to any questions (unlike what we had found with other companies). The contract was drawn up and signed, no issues. About 4 weeks after we signed up, we got a call saying there was a cancellation so we could get booked in. Communication was great from the main office and the scheduling. On the day of the pool dig, the bobcat driver hit limestone but the fees for removal were not unreasonable. We had a few loads and it cost us $2000 extra plus $500 for extra sand to backfill. Our pool installer James was extremely knowledgeable and paid attention to detail. We are so pleased with the end result and knowing that we have a superior product to other pool companies. I would highly recommend James to install any paving/landscaping you have done too, Barrier Reef have his card if you are interested. He lays paving properly with a firm foundation rather than just on sand. Our paving looks amazing. Handover was very informative and we are just so excited for the good weather! What we liked the most was the communication and honesty. Another pool company we almost signed up with before going to Barrier Reef appeared cheaper at first, but in the fine print they had hardly included any bobcat hours and everything was an "extra".
