This Lap pool was installed before the house was built – and the result was so successful it won a Bronze medal in the recent SPASA awards.
“Pools are an expensive and beautiful asset and the most successful ones are those that can be seen from as many windows of the house as possible,” said Barrier Reef Pools managing director Brad Hilbert.
“We put this one in first because of accessibility issues, and to keep it from being damaged while the build was progressing we used boards and planks to protect it.”
The 12 metre long Ocean Shimmer lap pool is the longest fibreglass pool on the market. At 2.6 metres wide along the lane and 3.5 metres at the steps, it fits the Attadale block like a glove.
The pool is flat-bottomed and 1.35 metres deep,” Mr Hilbert said. “This means it’s not only great for swimming in, it’s also great for walking and running.
Most families with young children wouldn’t consider a lap pool because it’s not deep enough if kids want to jump in safely, but they’re great for families with older children, or for adults who are serious about exercise.”
The pool steps lead to the home’s alfresco area while one end of the pool features a daybed on a raised timber deck.
Mr Hilbert said fibreglass pools offered many advantages. “Installation can take as little as seven days compared to a concrete rendered or pebble pool, which might take up to three months to install. And our soft, high-gloss fibreglass has a 25-year warranty. It’s strong and durable, yet flexible enough to accommodate earth movement.
We make lap pools in two lengths: eight and 12 metres, which this one is. Both options have large-width entries and exit steps in the middle that are recessed away from the swimming lane and you can choose from a range of many colours including six with a vibrant shimmer look.
