Green And Blue
A leafy tranquil retreat was the brief for this well-designed space; a component that needed to be achieved for the project to even go ahead.
Drawing on the expertise of Barrier Reef Pools Perth and landscape design company Outside In, the result for this Mount Hawthorn home is an outdoor area overflowing with natural serenity and understated sophistication.
Outside In Designer and Director Denise Staffa said the project was inspired by the Hamptons, with greenery central to the design.
“They wanted a lush green outlook,” Miss Staffa said. “In fact, it was a must; if I couldn’t achieve this, then the pool idea would have been axed.”
Front and centre in the space is Barrier Reef Pools Perth’s fibreglass Manhattan pool with built-in spa and a small wading area.
It is complemented by carbon granite capping on the pool and pavers.
Elevating the project to the next level is the water feature positioned in the centre against a planter box filled with leafy flora, offering a tranquil touch.
“The water feature was positioned perfectly, so views from inside the home captured this element, especially from the master bedroom,” Miss Staffa said.
The feature wall is finished with blue vein travertine, which blends nicely with the surrounding area.
“The tones and the movement of the veins works perfectly,” Miss Staffa said.
The stylish shower wall offers a point of difference to the project, positioned alongside the thriving greenery.
“I designed the framework for the shower using Knotwood’s Beachwood finish, which is actually aluminium so there is no maintenance and it is long- lasting,” Miss Staffa said.
Meanwhile, the daybed offers another stylish yet functional feature to the space and draws on Hamptons influences, with the timber slats painted white.
Before the new pool and landscaping was complete, the backyard was a forgotten part of the family home.
“The area is an extension of the inside, and the backyard is now the highlight of the house and adds real value to the property,” Miss Staffa said.
